The fourth edition of SEBOTA took place on the last weekend of June; this initiative forms part of SEBOT\u2019s activities and involves organising botanical excursions across the Iberian Peninsula. This year we visited the area around the Sierra de Gredos, particularly its western massif, to study the flora\u2014both vascular and bryophyte\u2014found in this region. On this occasion, we were supported by two experts on the flora of the Central System: Modesto Luce\u00f1o (Pablo de Olavide University) and Nagore Garc\u00eda Medina (Autonomous University of Madrid), who organised three excursions for us (the Hoyocasero pine forest, which we visited on Friday; the Sierra de Candelario on Saturday, and the peat bogs at Puerto de Pe\u00f1anegra on Sunday), where we were able to see some of the wonders hidden within the Sierra de Gredos.<\/p>

Among the most unusual species we saw were Rhaponticum exaltatum<\/em> (b), Meesia <\/em>triskelion (c) or Martagon lily<\/em> (d). However, once again, what was truly remarkable about the SEBOTA field trip was the great atmosphere and the character of those who took part, for which we are immensely grateful.<\/p>
