Over a hundred registered participants attended the 2nd Annual Symposium on Spanish Botany

On 12 and 13 November, this second symposium, focusing on the importance of hybridisation and polyploidy in plant diversity, was held at the Autonomous University of Madrid. Organised by SEBOT and sponsored by the Universities of Seville and Madrid, the event continued the tradition established before the pandemic by the first symposium held in Seville. It was organised by Marcial Escudero (US), Rosalía Piñeiro (INRA BIOGECO / University of Bordeaux), Pedro Jiménez Mejías (UAM) and Gonzalo Nieto Feliner (RJB-CSIC).

In addition to the guest presentations, a round-table discussion was held on the recent completion of the project Iberian Flora and a poster session attended by numerous students.

The next event will take place in Barcelona in September 2022, organised jointly by the University of Barcelona and the Barcelona Botanical Institute, and will focus this time on mountain flora.

If you were unable to attend or would like to watch the talks again, you can find them in the section “Symposia” from the website
